Position Summary:


Monitors and evaluates the quality of clinical care for trauma patients and identifies performance improvement issues.




  1. Monitors and evaluates the quality of clinical care for trauma patients concurrently via the following mechanisms: issue identification, primary, secondary, and tertiary reviews, as well as multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary reviews.
  2. Identifies Performance Improvement (PI) issues through chart review, attendance at Trauma Program conferences and meetings, clinical rounds and maintaining the PI email and telephone “hotline”.
  3. Identifies additional patients and collaborates with staff, for inclusion in the Trauma Registry.
  4. Performs primary review of morbidity, mortality and identified process/system measures for all patients entered into the trauma registry.
  5. Organizes and assists the PI Medical Director with secondary and tertiary multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary reviews of morbidity, mortality, and process/system measures of select trauma patients.
  6. Maintains the PI patient outcomes database, including recording minutes for PI meetings, performing and running database queries, and providing formal response letters to referring providers, facilities and EMS Units.
  7. Monitors and reports to the Trauma Program Manager on compliance with American College of Surgeons standards for the PI process for a Level I trauma center.
  8. Educates and performs loop closure for all nursing issues identified through the PI process. Acts as a resource for education in clinical issues for the care of the trauma patient.
  9. Collaborates with New England Organ Bank (NEOB) to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  10. Arranges and supports community relations events with the NEOB such as Donate Life Month and Memory Garden Celebration. 
  11. Participates in outreach programs with referring providers/institutions in regard to improving clinical care of trauma patient
  12. Participates in the educational efforts of the trauma program.
  13. Performs other duties as required or assigned.



Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Master's degree (or matriculated into a Master's program) with 5 years of applicable experience required.
  • Either Bachelor’s or Master’s degree must be in Nursing. 
  • Experience in nursing education preferred. 
  • Intermediate skills in computer applications and database utilization required. 
  • Excellent communication skills desired.
Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in New Hampshire required.
