Section Chief of Occupational Medicine
 
The Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center seeks a Section Chief of Occupational and Environmental Medicine to lead a team of multidisciplinary occupational health professionals to further our mission of advancing the health, safety and well-being of working people and their families. This is an outstanding opportunity to grow a nationally renowned, comprehensive, integrated health protection and health promotion program in a collaborative, academic environment. Our program is a National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Total Worker Health® Affiliate and is recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance as a Level-3, Patient-Centered Specialty Practice.
 
As leader of the Section, this physician’s role will consist of administrative, academic, and clinical responsibilities.  The primary focus of the position consists of creating and supporting population health policies, programs and services to advance the health, safety and well-being of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock workforce and families.  He or she also provides oversight of the quality and finances of clinical services serving regional employers.  The clinical case mix includes complex work injury and illness management, clinical toxicology, fitness-for-duty assessments, functional assessments, return-to-work evaluations, independent medical examinations, permanent impairment ratings, disability management, pre-placement evaluations, and medical surveillance. Opportunities for hyperbaric medicine also are available for the qualified and interested applicant,
 
The Chief shares responsibility with the Chair of Medicine for the Section’s teaching and research and faculty career development.  This position includes bedside teaching and didactic lecturing with opportunities to engage in all aspects of the academic mission. Salary and academic appointment at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth will be commensurate with experience and training.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Board-certified in Occupational Medicine or General Preventive Medicine and Public Health
  • Board certification in Hyperbaric and Undersea Medicine for applicants interested in this practice
  • Eligible for medical licensing in New Hampshire
  • Strong public health, communication, team leadership, and organizational skills
  • Experience in Academic Medicine or Public Health

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of direct occupational health care clinical and programmatic experience
  • Experience leading and managing clinical care teams and programs
  • Background in Medical Center Occupational Health
