Sr. Clinical Secretary – PACU
 
Hours: 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM
 
Performs a variety of administrative support duties, as well as a wide range of customer service-related duties to assist in the overall functioning of the department. Works closely with the Charge Nurse to ensure efficient patient flow.
 
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with the ability to multi-task and quickly be able to adjust focus for a variety of incoming tasks while remaining organized. This role interfaces with a diverse population to include staff from multiple disciplines and patient’s families.

Responsibilities: A listing of the key responsibilities
  1. Answer telephone, screen and direct calls, give directions, and take messages.
  2. Maintain patient log to assist with tracking, check patient admission orders, and make bed requests through eD-H for patient placement throughout the hospital.
  3. Maintain patient belongings log, to include patient c-paps/bi-paps, and ensure items get to the patient’s bedside.
  4. Create forms and spreadsheets, tables, charts, database, and slides.
  5. Work closely with customers to verify contact information and contact sheets at patient bays are up to date.
  6. Order office supplies to ensure there is efficient stock of necessary items. To include forms from the Print Shop to guarantee there is adequate stock of forms at the nurse’s station.
  7. Perform file/record management functions, prepares/constructs charts/departmental patient records, and labels and ID bands.
  8. Create agendas and takes minutes for meetings.
  9. Work with Electronic Medical Record.
  10. Performs other duties as required or assigned.


 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma with 3 years of administrative support experience or the equivalent required. 
  • Proven experience working with the public required. 
  • Previous experience working in a medical setting preferred. 
  • Knowledge of medical terminology may be required. 
  • Proficiency in PC word processing, spreadsheets, and Excel, Power Point, MC Publisher software's. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
