Dartmouth Hitchcock is seeking an experienced RN to perform as a Research Nurse, qualified candidates will understand and have experience with protocols, interviewing, enrolling and providing informed consent to patients regarding clinical and drug studies. Applicants will have an understanding of the IRB process and have experience with lab draws and the correct processing of samples for shipping. We are seeking candidates with experience drawing blood, vitals, scheduling patients for appointments as required by the study, entering data into the database and performing the required administrative work to support the studies.

This position is located in Manchester NH and will be working on new grants.

 

 

 

Position Summary:

 

Manages investigational research studies. Performs a wide range of clinical and non-clinical tasks associated with conducting clinical trials and research studies.  Provides care, education, and support to investigational research studies, patients, and their families.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Provides patient care to inpatients and outpatients receiving investigational therapy.
  2. Screening and recruiting potential study subjects.                
  3. Educates patient and family regarding investigational therapy in collaboration with the medical plan of care.
  4. Ensures that patients are scheduled for study follow-ups and for periodic testing required by the study protocol.
  5. Coordinates the data collection process for studies and processes forms accordingly.
  6. Assists in the preparation and administration of investigational agents and other medication per research protocol.
  7. Ensures security of study supplies and study documentation.                                                                                                   
  8. Coordinates specimen collection. Records and maintains data for the research studies.
  9. Evaluates research patients for drug and/or disease-related toxicities and symptoms.                                                                  
  10. Coordinates and communicates protocol-related treatment plans to other health professionals.
  11. Educates healthcare professional regarding investigational research protocols.
  12. Coordinates with the research team to address patient care delivery issues and quality improvement efforts.
  13. Reviews new protocols for feasibility and makes recommendations.
  14. Assists with the preparation and submission of study protocols, consent forms, and other study documentation to departmental research groups and the Institutional Review Board (IRB). 
  15. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Previous knowledge of clinical research based on study protocols preferred.
  • Awareness of ethical consideration regarding investigational research studies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
 
Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in New Hampshire required.  
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required.
