Purpose:

Assumes responsibility for proper patient flow through the preliminary portion of ancillary services.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepares patients for ophthalmic examinations.
  2. Responsible for the accumulation and coordination of information necessary for patient records.
  3. Assists in the maintenance of ophthalmic equipment by general servicing and cleaning.
  4. Ensures adequate inventory of consumables and supplies for designated area.
  5. Assists physicians with daily tasks.
  6. Trains for new tasks and ancillary skills.
  7. Ensures compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures.
  8. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or the equivalent required.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology desired with a willingness to learn ophthalmic assisting and work toward certification. 
Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
  • BLS required
