The primary location for the Financial Analyst is Lebanon, NH with the ability to be based in Bedford, NH.  If Bedford is preferred, some travel is required to join the Lebanon based team 2-4 times per month. 
 
The Organization:
Dartmouth-Hitchcock (D-H) is a nonprofit academic health system that serves a patient population of 1.2 million in New England. Anchored by Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, a 396-bed major tertiary referral center and New Hampshire’s only Level I trauma center, the system includes the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, one of only 41 NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the nation; the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock; four affiliate community hospitals in New London, Keene, and Lebanon, NH, and Windsor, VT; and 24 Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinics that provide ambulatory services across New Hampshire and Vermont. D-H also includes the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic, a multi-specialty group practice that employs more than 1,200 physicians and associate providers. In partnership with the Audrey and Theodor Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and the White River Junction VA Medical Center in White River Junction, Vermont, it trains nearly 400 residents and fellows annually and performs world-class research.
 
 
 
 
Position Summary: A brief description of the overall primary duties
Manages a variety of Finance projects with a focus on developing business plans for new programs and evaluating results of established programs. Provides support for routine financial projects including preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets as well as the five-year plan.
 
 
Responsibilities: A listing of the key responsibilities  
  1. Assists in the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets and projections. Evaluates and performs regular monitoring of actual performance against existing budgets, identifying areas of improvement.
  2. Provides support for analysis in the preparation of periodic financial reports and key performance metrics of the organization’s operations. Creates ad hoc and/or monthly, quarterly or yearly trend reports in new systems to assist in this analysis.
  3. Acts as liaison with other business units by providing financial information and explanation to operating departments.
  4. Assists in the development and evaluation of financial projections that reflect the operating program results. Determines the program’s impact on operating and capital budgets. 
  5. Performs all accounting functions for certain stand-alone entities, including general ledger maintenance, billing and collections, budget and financial statement preparation tax work papers, etc.
  6. Establishes and maintains accounting for complex activities such as investments, planned giving, restricted funds, tax exempt debt and associated swaps.
  7. Assists in benchmarking initiatives for various lines of business within the organization. Analyzes and compares financial and operating performance within the system and against industry benchmarks. 
  8. Collects and compiles data to perform special system-wide projects and to complete surveys and reports.
  9. Functions as a resource on initiatives to improve financial reporting, planning, analysis, and initiatives related to related to financial systems, operations or internal controls.
  10. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
 
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with 2-3 years of relevant finance, accounting or healthcare experience required.
  • Must possess a high level of computer literacy and demonstrated knowledge and expertise in using tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and database query tools.
  • Must have a fundamental knowledge of accounting/finance and be very detail-oriented with exceptional communication experience and skills.
  • Preference will be given to any candidate who shows evidence of a track record of success over baseline requirements.
