Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua is currently seeking an experienced APRN or PA to work with our family medicine team to manage the health and wellness of our patients. You will work collaboratively to provide comprehensive care to our patients in Southern New Hampshire. Working under the general direction of the medical director, you will practice autonomously as well as in collaboration with physicians, APRNs, and PA colleagues and other healthcare providers to provide primary healthcare to the full age range in our practice.

Responsibilities: A listing of the key responsibilities

  1. Assesses physical and psychosocial health status of patient and family by taking health histories and conducting comprehensive physical examinations.
  2. Orders appropriate diagnostic/screening tests to evaluate patient’s current health status.
  3. Formulates diagnosis and implement treatment plan to manage acute illness and stable chronic illness consulting with and making a referral to physician colleagues and other health care providers as indicated.
  4. Consults and collaborates with a department physician or appropriate specialist to plan and manage the care for patients with unstable or complex acute or chronic illness. Facilitates transfer of patient to the primary care physician when the complexity of care exceeds scope of practice.
  5. Evaluates patient’s progress during follow up visits and implement revised plan of care.
  6. Prescribes and/or dispenses medication.
  7. Provides patient education with emphasis on the promotion of health and wellness and the prevention of illness and disability.
  8. Provides guidance and counseling for both individuals and families.
  9. Demonstrates patient advocacy that insures the patient’s right to privacy, confidentiality, and informed consent.
  10. Serves as a mentor for new APNs, nursing students, and department nursing staff.
  11. Assumes responsibility to renew APRN license in a timely manner and maintain DEA registration.
  12. Attends continuing education programs to ensure ongoing professional growth and development to meet licensure requirements.
  13. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua family medicine works within the community to ensure that the patients of our community have access to the best possible care. The practice offers a collegial, supportive and learning environment. There is direct access to DH specialists to support complex care as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:

3+ years working in a primary care clinical setting. DHH will compensate appropriately experienced APRNs or PAs.

The candidate should be confident managing their own primary care panel with appropriate physician oversight, or be able to achieve this level of independence within 2 years.



Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited APRN program.
  • NCCPA certification or board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
  • Eligible for APRN licensure in the State of New Hampshire.
  • Eligible for Federal DEA Registration.
